MARLIES SIGN FREE AGENTS NATHAN PERROTT AND PETER TSIMIKALIS
Owen Sound native returns for third stint with Maple Leafs’ organization

Mike Penny, General Manager of the Toronto Marlies, announced Monday that the club has signed free agent forwards Nathan Perrott and Peter Tsimikalis to AHL Standard Player Contracts. In keeping with club policy, terms of the contracts were not disclosed.


  Perrott, 30, returns to Toronto after having played four games with the Marlies last season. He was held pointless while recording 19 penalty minutes. Prior to last season, Perrott appeared in three games with the Maple Leafs in 2005-06. He was traded to Dallas in exchange for a fifth round draft choice on November 6, 2005. The Owen Sound, Ontario native registered three points (two goals, one assist) while collecting 54 penalty minutes with the Stars. The 6’0, 225-pound winger played 96 games over two seasons (2002-03, 2004-05) with the Maple Leafs’ American Hockey League affiliate in St. John’s and registered 43 points (23 goals, 20 assists) and 373 penalty minutes while with the club.


          Originally from Toronto, Tsimikalis concluded his Ontario Hockey League career with the Kitchener Rangers last spring. Despite appearing in only 37 contests, he finished tied for fourth in scoring with 56 points, including 19 goals, and ranked second among all scorers with 37 assists. Tsimikalis began the 2006-07 season with the American Hockey League’s Albany River Rats where he recorded three points (one goal, two assists) while collecting seven penalty minutes in 19 games. Over the span of his OHL career he amassed 297 points (95 goals, 202 assists) in 286 career games with Ottawa, Oshawa and Kitchener. He tallied career highs of 29 goals, 70 assists and 99 points while appearing in 64 games with the Generals in 2005-06.
