Marlies Hold Community Practice In Vaughn

October 30, 2008

Outreach program with minor hockey players set for second installment of the season

The Toronto Marlies travel to Vaughn to continue their series of community practices in an effort to connect with minor hockey teams throughout the GTA starting at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 4 at the Al Palladini Community Centre on the East rink. A number of minor hockey level players from the City of Vaughn Hockey Association will watch as coaches Greg Gilbert, Doug Gilmour and Joe Paterson lead the Marlies through a legitimate pro hockey practice. With 15 minutes remaining in the session, one minor hockey team will take to the ice and join the entire Marlies team in interactive and challenging drills aimed at helping young players improve their skills. Toronto Marlies Mascot, Duke the Dog will also be in attendance at the event.

The Marlies will leave the ice surface at 8:00 p.m., to participate in a team autograph signing session. This will be the second of five planned Marlies practices that will be held around the Toronto area this season.

The Marlies play their second road game of the season when they travel to Rochester on Friday to take on the Americans – AHL affiliate of the Florida Panthers – at 7:35 p.m. The Marlies return home to host the Lake Erie Monsters and Hamilton Bulldogs on Saturday and Sunday, with both games starting at 4:00 p.m. The game on Sunday is Nickelodeon Day at Ricoh Coliseum. Both games this weekend will air live on Rogers TV Cable 10 in Toronto and 63 in Scarborough. Fans can listen to all Toronto Marlies regular season games on THE FAN 590 or fan590.com.
