Four Goals Scored In 2:21 Span During Second Period

(CLEVELAND, OH) - The Marlies threw everything but the kitchen sink at the Lake Erie net in the dying minutes, but couldn't find the tying goal.

Marty Sertich scored midway through the third period, as the Marlies were edged out 3-2 by the Lake Erie Monsters in Cleveland on Saturday night.

Cody Burki and Chris Durno had the other Lake Erie goals while Tim Stapleton and Jeremy Williams tallied for Toronto.

Tyler Weiman made 23 stops for the win, while Adam Munro made 25 saves in the loss.

After a scoreless first period, the Monsters scored two goals in a span of 42 seconds to take a 2-0 lead in the second. The Marlies then responded with a pair of their own goals 19 seconds later. Stapleton scored on a one time snap shot from the slot, while 1:20 later, Williams one timed his 10th goal of the season, and AHL leading 9th power play marker to even the game 2-2.

In the third, Sertich pounced on a loose puck behind Munro on the power play, after Nigel Williams fired a shot from the point. It would be the game winner.

Toronto was 1 for 4 on the power play while Lake Erie was 2 for 6.

The Marlies return home to face the Rochester Americans on Sunday afternoon at Ricoh Coliseum. Puck drop is 4pm for Wendel Clark mini-banner night.
