Marlies Shutout In Final Game Of 2008

(HAMILTON, ON) – The final game of 2008 ended in a similar fashion to the final game of 2007 for Toronto, which was a 4-1 loss to Albany.

The Bulldogs had goals from four different scorers and Marc Denis made 21 saves for the shutout as the Marlies were blanked 4-0 in Hamilton on Tuesday night, snapping Toronto’s three game win streak.

Kyle Chipchura, Mathieu Carle, Max Pacioretty and Ryan Russell scored for Hamilton, who pulled 5 points ahead of the Marlies for 3rd in the North Division.

Chipchura and Carle had the first period goals, with the second marker coming on the power play. Hamilton held a 13-6 shot advantage in the period.

Pacioretty and Russell scored two minutes apart in the second to extend the lead to 4-0, and Hamilton never looked back.

Justin Pogge finished with 21 saves in just the second loss for the Marlies in their last 8 road games.

Both teams had 6 power play chances, with Hamilton connecting once.

The Marlies will host Iowa on Friday night for the first game in 2009.
